There is a lot of pornography on the internet. Sometimes it pops up on the screen without you looking for it. Security settings on the computer can help prevent this.
Pornography depicts adults, and even young children in sexual acts that are abusive and degrading. Many of the people in the images have been abused, forced, even kidnapped into these situations. They may be drug addicts desperate for money to feed their habit. Usually they are women, or young girls or boys.
How would you feel if your mum, sister or girlfriend were forced or trapped into this industry? All people are worthy of greater respect than this. Don’t be part of it by thinking ‘just a quick look’ won’t hurt. Pornography does hurt people.
Viewing pornography can be addictive: that means some people, particularly men and boys, can find it really difficult to stop looking at it. Pornography can change the way people think about what is right and wrong in a relationship. It can make them lose respect for themselves and other people. It can lead to loneliness and isolation as people addicted to porn can end up spending most of their time alone with their habit.
Nobody wins by looking at pornography except the pornography business which wants people to get hooked so they will buy more and more of their products. Again, it’s all about money.
Pornography comes in many forms – magazines, dvds, computer games, internet sites, music.
It’s simple –
